What is the difference between a cookie embosser and debosser?

Embossers stamp your chosen design into fondant and leave imprinted words, patterns or images onto your cookie or cake. Whereas debossers stamp the design onto your fondant but makes the pattern come out from the fondant rather than leaving an imprint, think of a debosser as a reverse embosser. 

How do I use a cookie debosser?

Using an debosser is pretty much the same as an embosser but it will provide a 3D pop-out pattern. 

  1. Prepare your fondant
  2. Choose your design
  3. Place rolled out fondant onto the debosser and use a rolling pin to roll over it, ensuring to apply a light pressure all over the surface of the debosser.
  4. Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut out the fondant around the debossed design.
  5. Decorate your cake or cookie using the cut out fondant. You can use a bit of water as glue to make the debossed fondant stick.
  6. Add final touches by adding additional decorations to your cake or cookie, such as piping, sprinkles, lustre dust or other decorations.
